Assessment capable learners develop portfolios.Assessment capable learners develop portfolios, set goals, use rubrics and lead confreences.

Assessment capable learners are proficient at self-monitoring. They set goals and are reflective about their progress, and they don’t rely solely on the teacher to tell them where they are or what to do next.

We have a mental model of portfolios. Those models are very different to each of us, thus there are different types of portfolios depending upon how they will be used. Portfolios can be used to highlight and celebrate progress, capture learning, showcase final products, and showcase growth in learning (Jon Mueller, 2013, Helen Barrett, 2013).
