Select a module and describe effective use of the practice profile. In your description, address the following tasks and provide real-world examples.

Part 2 has 6 tasks.

Task 1: Identify the module that is the focus of Part 2.

Task 2: Identify a setting (secondary, elementary, etc.) and explain how that setting relates to your selected module.

Task 3: Identify a type of team (content-level, grade-level, match department, leadership team, etc.) and how it relates to your selected module and setting.

For the following tasks, use your selected module, setting, and team for your real world examples.

Task 4. During both training and coaching, explain how the practice profile is used to identify the team’s strengths and needs, and clearly identify the strengths and needs of your selected setting and team. Include a real-world example of identified strengths and needs.

Task 5: Describe how a coach and trainer would use the practice profile to guide next steps for your selected setting and time. Include a real-world example of working collaboratively with the team to identify next steps, building on the identified strengths and needs.

Task 6: Describe the specific roles of the building leader, teachers, coach, and trainer when using the practice profile. Include a real-world example.

Rubric

The rubric below shows the proficiency levels for Part 2.

Item Proficient Close to Proficient Emerging
1-3: Module, building, and team
  • The module relevance to the building type is clearly described.
  • The module’s relevance to the team type is clearly described.
  • The identified building type and team type align.
The module, building type, and team types are identified, but the relevance across all three is not aligned. 2 or more of the criteria are missing.
4: Strengths and needs

The response meets ALL of the following:

  • Describes how a trainer uses the practice profile to identify the team’s strengths, with a specific example
  • Describes how a trainer uses the practice profile to identify the team’s needs, with a specific example
  • Describes how a coach uses the practice profile to identify the team’s strengths, with a specific example
  • Describes how a coach uses the practice profile to identify the team’s needs, with a specific example
The response meets 3 criteria aligned to the identified building and team type, OR addresses all 4 criteria but lacks real-world specificity in examples or clear alignment to the identified building and team. The response meets 2 or fewer criteria OR provides examples that do not align to the module, building type, or team type, OR addresses only training or only coaching.
5: Guiding next steps

The response meets ALL of the following:

  • Describes how the trainer uses the practice profile to collaboratively determine next steps with the team, with a real-world example
  • Describes how the coach uses the practice profile to collaboratively determine next steps with the team, with a real-world example
  • Next steps for the trainer, coach, and team are logically connected to the identified strengths and needs
  • The response reflects a decision-making process, not just a list of actions
The response addresses all 4 items, but responses are either incomplete or missing details. Not all items are addressed.
6: Roles

The response meets ALL of the following:

  • Describes the specific role of the building leader when using the practice profile
  • Describes the specific role of teachers when using the practice profile
  • Describes the specific role of the coach and trainer when using the practice profile
  • The three roles are meaningfully differentiated from one another (not just listed as “all participate”)
  • Roles are grounded in the real-world scenario established in 2b and 2c
The response meets 4 criteria, OR all three roles are mentioned but one or more lacks specificity or differentiation. The response meets 3 or fewer criteria OR roles are not differentiated from one another OR one or more roles is omitted.

Part 2 Instructions

Step 1: Organize your Part 2 document by including the following questions and your response. Include each question and your response in one document. The purpose of these questions are to help you align your submission to the rubric.

  • Does your response address both training AND coaching when the prompt asks for both?
  • Do your real world examples for each task align with your identified module, setting, and type of team?
  • Did you address the roles or responsibilities of all identified roles? Does your description specify how each role engages with practice profile.
