Examples of Feedback in Coaching

  • Coach facilitates conversations about what has gone well
    • “What went well in you lesson today?”
    • “When you stopped to clarify your directions, your class was able to be more independent in completing the assignment.”
  • Coach facilitates conversations about relevant student data
    • What is the data telling you?”
    • “I see the post-test data on the unit of instruction shows a decrease as opposed to an increase in the scores of the students. What do you think might be influencing the data?”
    • “As you reviewed your SMART goal for this quarter, how did you utilize that data to pinpoint your focus with this practice?”

Reflection

How can feedback enhance coaching?

When might feedback be less helpful?

How can you create a habit of providing others with 30 Second Feedback on another of the 7 Tools?
